Primary Health Care Organisations
With a growing trend of merging General Practices and the construction of Health Hubs, Primary Healthcare Organisations (PHO’s) are recognising a need to ensure Facilities Management (FM) / Property Management are provided for. The client was challenged with the FM side of the business as well as a new Health Hub that was being developed. We provided the client with advice on a solid FM approach to positively address the impact any new building design/layout has on patient and staff experience. Additional consultation has been provided on how to organise FM support to manage Medical Centres and Health Hubs in the future, providing the right level of support to General Practises. As a result the PHO has now recognised the need of a Facilities Management approach in their region. Currently they are working on how to embed this in their services channel towards General Practises.
A Medical Center was in need of insights on their matureness of Facilities Management/Property. FMS conducted an audit and provided feedback on some H&S issues and opportunities to improve FM operations (Cleaning, Maintenance etc.). Furthermore the General Practise has now the data and a clear overview that they need to bring their Property Strategy in line with their long term Business Strategy.
Counties Manukau Health (DHB)
For the Minor Capital Work Program the DHB is dealing with a substantial amount of back logging. Due to several circumstances the Program has in October 2020 a total of 95 projects on the list. Total budget available for this is $15 mln. As a manager I have to support the Project Engineers, the Facilities Engineering and Asset Management senior leadership team in reducing the volume of projects. The projects are anything between the $10,000 and $1,000,000. Challenge is the development of tools (Power BI etc.) to make the processes more efficient. Streamline procurement processes is part of the contract as well. Furthermore developping more of a Team spirit and sense of urgency that patient care is at the center of a positive outcome of projects being finished on time.
